Mongi is the process of combining the process of marbled clay bodies with the traditional korean process of Onggi. Onggi refers both to the type of clay and process where traditional Korean ceramicists would use a combination of throwing and coil building to create large fermentation vessels. Pulling from this heritage, HYUNUKO has combined this process with the more modern technique of marbling clay bodies to create a new process that connects the past to the present.
